My Dear Brother –

I received a note the other day from Flora saying you had left Richmond, and had not given her any definite instructions or limititations as to the purchase proposed.  I would be glad if you would write or telegraph something to her as soon as you receive this, also as to what ratio the price should bear to the market price of similar property in peace times – also how payment is to be made, and any thing else you deem of importance.  Existing orders prevent young Lownes being allowed to join Mosby’s com. as they inhibit any one under 35 years of age joining Partizan Rangers.  Mosby is now Lt. Col.  I sent Litchfield’s Co. to Washington Co for a month or two – They want to be kept in that part of the country.  It is however impossible.

I have sent Dabney Ball’s draft to him.

I may possibly go to Richmond on Tuesday next to help Flora get the home – I wish for her.  I hope to get the dispatch there.

If your business would possibly allow it, that you would enjoy a visit to us here for a few days.  Wont you call.  Major Gen’l Smith of V.M.I. told me Biz Fiz was a young man of fine abilities and was doing well.

I  was very much pleased with Lownes he will be detailed at my Hd Qrs on special duty & in time will no doubt receive promotion –

Give much love to all friends & kin and believe me

Yours affectionately

J.E.B.Stuart
