Gen’l Stuart

Dear Sir, I am desirous to get a place in one or other of the departments, which are now being filled by ladies, and it is suggested that the influence of your name would aid me in obtaining this place.  I am very reluctant to presume on the little acquaintance [missing] have with you, by giving you this to [missing] yield to the necessity which makes [missing] anxious to do something for the support [missing] my children.  The war drove me from my home nearly 3 years ago and though the kindness of my friends has prevented my [missing] its pressure, this does not make me less anxious to help myself.

Would you recommend me to a situation in the Treasury department?  If done very speedily I think a note from you addressed to T.W. Dupree Treasury Deptmt would help me to obtain a place.  I am with affct recollections of you.

very respectfully yours

L.C. Minor

Maj Gen. J.E.B. Stuart
