My Dearest Wife,
How I wish you had stayed, but, I would have seen you very little for I
have been on the constant go – night & day. G.W. Smith
said last night he wished he could divide me up into several pieces for
different points. There have been several skirmishes almost
daily. I want to see you very much and trust a speedy victory
here will restore you to my arms. How is Dear Pet I am very
uneasy about her. I can write no long letters here. I was
never better except I want you very much. I hope Dearie you are
nicely fixed.
The enemy does not seem anxious to fight but nous verrons – tomorrow being Monday may be the day.
